U.S.: 5 dead, including children, in shooting at Georgia home

Five people were killed, including several children, in a shooting at a home west of Atlanta in the U.S. state of Georgia, local authorities said on Saturday. The suspected perpetrator was among those transported to hospital but it was not immediately clear whether he had survived.

The shooting happened at around 3 p.m. local time at a home on Willow Tree Circle in Douglasville, a city about 20 miles (32 kilometers) west of Atlanta. "I have multiple fatalities, including children, with multiple victims and children being transported to the hospital at this time. The perpetrator was among those transported," said Lt. Glenn Daniel, a spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Lt. Daniel later confirmed that five people had been killed, including several children, but he provided no information about the condition of the perpetrator. The identity or ages of the victims, or a possible motive for the killings, was also not immediately known.
