Minsk talks continuing, could last another 5 to 6 hours – Ukrainian aide

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Fran├žois Hollande are continuing their meeting in Minsk in an attempt to reach a solution to end the violence in eastern Ukraine, and the talks could last for another 5 to 6 hours, a Ukrainian aide said on early Thursday.

Valeriy Chaly, the deputy head of Ukraine's presidential administration, provided the update on his Facebook account on early Thursday, when the meeting had already lasted some seven hours. He said the four leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France were meeting without advisers in the early morning hours.

"Now the meeting is between the four leaders (without advisors). It is too early for details. I think that we have another 5 to 6 hours of work. At least. But I think we can not leave without an agreement on an unconditional ceasefire. There's a battle of nerves underway," Chaly wrote.
