Syrian air force raids kill 270 civilians, 120 fighters in 10 days – activist monitoring group

Airstrikes carried out by Syrian government forces have killed at least 390 people, including 270 civilians and 120 fighters, over the past 10 days, an activist monitoring group reported on Wednesday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a Britain-based monitoring group, reported that government aircraft conducted 472 airstrikes while helicopters dropped more than 537 barrel bombs, which are oil drums filled with explosives and shrapnel, across all but two of Syria’s provinces.

The activist group claims the airstrikes resulted in the deaths of at least 270 civilians, of which 49 were children and 58 were women. Also killed were at least 120 fighters from groups including the Islamic State (ISIS) and al-Nusra.

It added that some 1,200 others were wounded in the strikes, including some who remain in critical condition.
