Turkey arrests 13 foreigners attempting to join ISIS – army

Turkish security forces have arrested fourteen people, including thirteen foreigners, who were attempting to cross into Syria to join the Islamic State (ISIS) group, Turkey's armed forces said in a statement on Wednesday. The nationalities of the foreigners was not immediately released.

The group was arrested at about 3 p.m. local time on Monday as they tried to cross the Turkish-Syrian border near the city of Gaziantep in southeast Turkey, the armed forces said in a statement. It said the Turkish citizen and thirteen foreigners had intended to join ISIS after they entered Syria.

"By order of the public prosecutor, after taking testimony, the Turkish citizen was released and the 13 foreigners were handed over to the Gaziantep Police Department to be deported," the statement said.
