[UPDATE] Turkish Airlines plane skids off runway at Nepali airport, several injured – media

Turkish Airlines Flight TK726, carrying 240 passengers, skidded off the runway while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in the Nepali capital Kathmandu on early Wednesday morning, local news company Ekantipur reports.

The Airbus A330, which had flown from Istanbul, Turkey, overshot the runway when the aircraft’s front landing gear collapsed, the report said. Several people received medical attention after the incident, but Ekantipur said those injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The plane had aborted an earlier landing attempt and was put on a long hold before making a go-around, after which the incident occurred. Bad weather and low visibility may have been a contributing factor.
