[OFFICIAL] Saudi Arabia beheads Filipino man for murdering boss

A Filipino driver convicted of stabbing his boss to death has been decapitated by sword in Saudi Arabia, the kingdom’s government reported on Monday, raising the number of people executed there so far this year to 40.

Joven Esteva, a citizen of the Philippines, was convicted of stabbing to death Saudi national Mohammed bin Al Ayed, who he was working for as a driver. “He stabbed him with a knife in the chest, which led to his death,” the interior ministry said in a statement.

Esteva was convicted of the murder and sentenced to death, and both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Judicial Council upheld the sentence, after which a royal decree was issued to carry out the beheading.

Esteva was beheaded on Monday in the capital Riyadh.
