[UPDATE] Magnitude-6.2 earthquake jolts northern Colombia – seismologists

A strong but relatively deep earthquake struck a mountainous region of northern Colombia on Tuesday afternoon, with shaking felt as far away as the capital Bogotá, seismologists said. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The 6.2-magnitude earthquake at 3:55 p.m. local time was centered southeast of the city of Bucaramanga, or about 272 kilometers (169 miles) northeast of Bogotá. It struck about 147 kilometers (91 miles) deep, making it a relatively deep earthquake, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

Colombia's seismological agency measured the earthquake at a stronger 6.6.
