[UPDATE] Apple services restored after 12-hour-long outage

A service outage on Wednesday that shut down several Apple services, including Apple’s popular App Store, has been restored after more than 12 hours, according to the company’s System Status page.

The outage, which began just before 5 a.m. ET, plagued users attempting to access the company’s iBooks Store, Mac App Store, iTunes Store, and App Store. Other services were unaffected, but it took until just after 5 p.m. ET for the problems to be resolved.
