[OFFICIAL] 2 service members killed in Dutch helicopter crash in northern Mali – defense chief

Two Dutch service members were killed Tuesday when a helicopter belonging to the UN force MINUSMA crashed in northern Mali, Dutch defense chief General Tom Middendorp said at a press conference. He said the helicopter crash happened during a training exercise about 47 kilometers (29 miles) north of Camp Castor.

The victims were identified as 30-year-old Captain Rene Zeetsen and 1st Lt. Ernst Mollinger of the 301 Squadron of the Defense Helicopter Command at Gilze-Rijen Air Base in the southern Netherlands.
