Condition of Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew ‘weakens further’ – gov’t

SINGAPORE (BNO NEWS) -- The condition of former Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, who is widely recognized as the founding father of modern Singapore and who led the country for more than three decades, has weakened further, the prime minister's office said on Sunday.

"Mr. Lee Kuan Yew has weakened further today," the office of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in a one-sentence statement, providing no other details. It followed a Saturday morning statement that said Lee's condition - already described as critical days earlier - had "worsened."

Lee, 91, has been hospitalized with severe pneumonia since early February, but an infection worsened his condition and caused it to become critical on Tuesday.
