2 UK teenagers arrested as part of terror probe

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND (BNO NEWS) -- Two teenagers aged 14 and 16 have been arrested in northwest England on suspicion of preparing for an act of terrorism, British police said on Sunday, though details have not been disclosed. Both teenagers have since been released on bail.

Greater Manchester Police said a 14-year-old boy was arrested at a residence in Blackburn, a town in Lancashire county, after a number of electronic devices were examined. The boy was arrested under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 on suspicion of preparing for an act of terrorism.

As part of the same investigation, a 16-year-old girl was arrested in Manchester on Friday on suspicion of engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism. Details about the investigation, which involved the North West Counter Terrorism Unit, Greater Manchester Police and Lancashire Constabulary, were not immediately disclosed.

Both teenagers have been bailed until May 28.
