St. Louis police officer kills armed suspect, protesters gather

A suspect has been shot and killed in north St. Louis after allegedly pointing a gun at officers.

It happened in the front yard of a multifamily residence in the 1200 block of Walton Avenue when officers were attempting to serve a warrant. Two suspects tried to flee the scene during which one of them pointed a gun at an officer, prompting the officer to open fire, said Sam Dotson, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Dozens of people gathered at the scene in the hours after the shooting, protesting the killing and holding signs, some of them which read: "We must stop killing each other."
